December 20, 2010

Family,
This last week was awesome! We picked up a new investigator and got two less actives that haven't been to church in a while to come!! So first about the new investigator, his name is X and has a wife who hasn't come to church in a long time. We found them a few weeks back by just calling people on the ward list and since we didn't know her so we gave them a ring. She said it was cool if we came over, so we set a time, but she forgot so it didn't happen. Last Sunday we felt like we should stop by and they let us in. We got to know them a little bit and came back on Tuesday and taught a little bit about Christ and then we asked him if he wanted to hear the discussions and he said "yes". Cause of this being Christmas week, we won't be able to meet with them until next week. Also we had our ward Christmas party and they came to it!! It was sweet because we have built some trust with them and they also got to meet people in the ward.

Another less active member and his wife hadn't been to church for almost six weeks, if not a little more ( he got baptized on the 17th of October). We hadn't been able to reach them and his mom got really sick. So they came over to a member's house for dinner. It was at the Elders Quorum president's house, along with the ward mission leader and his wife. After the dinner, we taught them the first half of lesson three. We threw in keeping the Sabbath day holy and coming to church and it went really well. Saturday night we finished up lesson three and they committed to coming to church. We also talked about the Priesthood, why it was important to have it, and going to the temple. They came to church, but left after sacrament because she wasn't feeling well.
Another less active is a single guy who has lost his desire to come to church. We had been over there a couple times before, but the lessons weren't really sinking in and he didn't act on anything we invited him to do. But this last time was different we talked about the Book of Mormon and its importance. Then we set goals with him to help him progress, come to church and get him to start reading his scriptures. So far he has been doing a really good job of it, and he came to church and stayed all three hours! It was really cool. He said he is already feeling a difference throughout the day.

That is great that the home ward is having a convert baptism! Fills me with joy! (Editor's note: a wonderful young man named Chad is being baptized on Christmas day and is part of Hayden's home ward here in Gilbert.)

I got the Christmas package. I got the shoes and the razor out, but I didn't touch anything else and won't till Saturday. So for Christmas we are eating breakfast at the Oberg's where I will be talking to you guys. Bro Oberg was our ward mission leader, but just got released. Then we are going over to the Peppers to eat dinner. It will be fun.

I love you all and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Love,
Elder Moore
